Before the engine came into being, the main means of travelling over land was the stagecoach. Even with this simple means of transport status and bearing played an important role in segregating the rich from the not so rich. If you paid top whack you would be given a comfortable seat in the main cab, albeit bumpy but protected from the elements. If you paid the low fare you were designated a place on the top of the coach, usually next to the driver and had to suffer the ravages of inclement weather and needed to be fully wrapped to survive journeys in the midst of bad winters.

Whilst travel modes have changed dramatically over the last century, many experts say that we have seen nothing yet. All those star trek buffs may not be far wrong with the eventually possibility of being beamed up, even if it isn’t with someone called Scotty. There are already several institutions looking into the rudimentary basics of time travel and molecule transference. This is partly being enhanced with the current critical state of the planet and over use of oil and other power sources. If an alternative form of moving things and people from place to place, it would be nothing short of a miracle.
